Last weekend in the middle of a blustery snowstorm I decided to pack up my little family and drag them off to a flower shop in an attempt to pretend the snow wasn’t in piles taller than me. What better way to beat the winter blues than bringing a bit of Spring into your home?! Plus I mean, I love flowers. I’ve been following Amborella on Instagram for a long time now but I’ve never actually been there, so it was exciting to try somewhere new to me! I also really like the idea of a subscription service for flowers, I may have to try that out too.
The studio is located in a little strip mall area so theres lots of free parking, which is always a plus for me.
Inside the store we found a large counter area, a few potted plants, a medium sized flower cooler and some very cute stock including jewelry and handmade salves. The decor is very sweet and shabby chic. I know Amborella hosts a lot of workshops as well, but I’m not sure if those are done out front or in the back area. When we came in we were greeted by the ever so lovely Amanda and she was super kind, helpful and knowledgable. After letting us wander around and asking if we needed any help I asked her if she would make me a bouquet – she was super happy to do it and asked me my budget before starting. She also made sure to ask me what colours and kinds of flowers I liked but I decided to leave it up to her, she made a super wonderful hand-tied bouquet that we’re still enjoying! This one cost me about $45 and I also picked up a small potted hoya clipping for $10.
Amanda was so sweet to my crazy fam which I really appreciated, especially as I cringed every time Indie went for the very cute, very old looking typewriter out front.
It’s been 4 days so far and my bouquet is still holding up wonderfully. Every time I walk by it gives me joy and I’ve taken a ridiculous amount of pictures of it. Indie’s obsessed with the big orangey flower, it’s her fave one.
